Recipe: Hoisin Glazed Turkey Meatballs
Hi Everyone!
One of my favorite foods to cook is meatballs. They can be so versatile in choosing what ground meat you want to use, which spices or chopped veggies you want to add to the meat, and if you wish to add a glaze to them. Take a peek at my recipe for Hoisin Glazed Turkey Meatballs below!
Ingredients:
- 20 oz ground turkey
- 1 tbsp. onion powder
- 1 tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 tbsp. powdered ginger
- 1 tbsp. Chinese five spice
- 1 tsp red chili flakes
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 cup of all purpose or pan searing flour
- Favorite oil for sautéing
- Cooking spray
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup hoisin sauce
Methods:
1. Allow ground turkey to come to room temperature.
2. Mix all of the dried spices into the ground turkey with your hands (do not overmix the ground meat or it may become tough to the bite).
3. Roll ground turkey into 1 inch meatballs (should yield 15-20 meatballs).

4. Place meatballs in freezer for 30 minutes or until firm.
5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
6. Heat pan with oil on medium heat.
7. Coat each meatball with some flour and brown all sides of meatballs in pan (brown meatballs in batches to prevent overcrowding of the pan).

8. Brown all sides until most or all of the flour is no longer visible (add more oil to the pan if the pan smokes too much).

9. Spray cooking spray in 9X13 glass casserole dish and place meatballs in the dish. Pour hoisin sauce over the meatballs.

10. Bake meatballs in oven for 15-20 minutes.
Tips:
You can use any ground meat for this recipe. If you use a leaner ground meat like in this recipe, do not bake your meatballs for more than 20 minutes in order to prevent dryness. If you use a fattier ground meat, bake for 30-45 minutes.
Feel free to use any of your favorite sauces or seasonings for this recipe! If you are using a leaner ground meat, season the meat liberally to prevent a bland taste.
